Arts and Crafts style
Extension and renovation of an Arts and Crafts style house in a Conservation Area, creating new rooms while respecting the character of the home.
The building needed a full refurbishment and the clients wanted more living space to accommodate their teenage family.
A properly built and insulated garden room was added to form a projecting wing on one side at the rear and a games room was added in another wing to the other side.
Re-roofing the whole building allowed a number of smaller ground and first floor extensions to be incorporated and yet all tie together in a seamless whole.
Project carried out at Marcus Beale Architects
New garden room
This new room replaced a former garage. The oak beams tie the roof together.
Front elevation
The building has been extended subtly, in a style to match the existing house.
