Residential transformation
A new roof and second floor accommodation, new rear extension, remodelling internally and new external insulation have transformed this family home.
The original building dates from the 1930s and had a very ‘cottagey’ appearance with its low eaves line and swept dormers. The clients wanted to remove an unsuccessful conservatory and replace it with a large family room and kitchen, make full use of the roof space and above all create a more imposing street frontage.
The solution was to completely rebuild the roof, creating large rooms with high ceilings on the second floor. By over-cladding the exterior of the building in insulation and render the house has been transformed beyond recognition, where the outside now matches the calm generous spaces of the inside. At the same time the energy performance of the building has been significantly improved.

Applied timber and render cladding together with the low eaves line and swept dormers gave this house a very 'cottagey' feel.
A new roof with an addition al floor of accommodation together with the new insulated render over cladding has transformed this home.
The rear extensions have crisply detailed zinc roofs.
